An Aurora, Illinois woman was charged Monday with facilitating the rape of a preteen female relative.

Christina Sykora, 38, (pictured left) repeatedly shrugged and yawned through her Monday afternoon bond hearing where DuPage County prosecutors described the allegations against her before a judge ordered her held on a $1 million bond.

Sykora is charged with predatory sexual assault of a child and permitting sexual abuse of a child. Domestic Violence. She could face up to 60 years in prison if convicted, prosecutors said.

Assistant State’s Attorney Mike Pawl told the judge the girl described to investigators how Sykora had offered the girl to a 68-year-old man for sex and ordered her to undress while Sykora watched the rape.

Pawl said Glendale Heights resident Sabino Martinez – who was arrested in August and is also charged with multiple counts of predatory sexual assault – first requested sex with Sykora. The woman refused, and Martinez suggested Sykora’s relative instead. Sykora agreed, but only if she could watch, Pawl said. The attack is believed to have occurred in 2004 or 2005 when the girl was either 7 or 8 years old, Pawl said.

Pawl described how the girl told investigators she begged for Sykora to help her, but Sykora’s response was, “Oh, come on.”

Sykora admitted some aspects of the crime to investigators, Pawl said. The girl was staying at Sykora’s parents home in an unincorporated area near Lombard when the attack occurred. Pawl said the girl was later victimized repeatedly by Martinez, a handyman who often worked for Sykora’s parents.

Pawl said Sykora has a lengthy criminal history that includes skipping out on bond. Most recently, Sykora had lost custody of her infant child after she was arrested in 2008 on drug charges. In that case, Sykora pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled substance and endangering the welfare of a child. Pawl said Sykora was arrested at her home with a crack pipe resting in a drawer inches away from where the child was resting. Sykora is currently on probation for that crime.

Both Sykora and Martinez remain in custody at the DuPage County jail in Wheaton. Martinez’s bond is also set at $1 million.
