  • Comments Off on Washington Woman, Jennifer Dibley, Jailed For 14 Months For Raping 14-Year-Old Boy

October 26th 2009

A Bremerton, Washington woman was sentenced Monday to 14 months in prison after pleading guilty in September to having a sexual relationship with a 14-year-old boy.

Jennifer M. Dibley, 35, told Kitsap County Superior Court Judge Sally F. Olsen on Monday that she had taken responsibility for her actions and was looking forward to leading a productive life once again after serving her sentence.

Olsen had a narrow 12 to 14 month range to choose from; she went with the higher end of the range.

The 14-year-old’s father told Olsen that Dibley had done irreparable harm and that he had lost interest in his school activities following the incidents, which prosecutors say occurred in March and April.

The boy’s sister found text messages on the his phone that “were of an intimate nature,” according to an investigation by Bremerton police detectives.

Dibley pleaded guilty to one count of third-degree child rape Sept. 21.

Campaigner reveals how she was sexually abused by her own mother

Article from The Sun (UK)

NURSERY worker Vanessa George’s vile admission in court this month that she sexually abused children in her care horrified the nation.

But for Susannah Faithfull it also brought back horrific memories of abuse she herself suffered – at the hands of her own MOTHER.

Mum-of-two Susannah, 54, who was subjected to years of depraved attacks, runs a therapy centre for survivors of sexual abuse.

And she hopes that finally the issue of female paedophiles is not being swept under the carpet – because when she tried to raise the alarm, no one helped her.

Susannah’s parents divorced when she was a baby and she and her mum Maureen moved from Yorkshire to her grandmother’s house in south-east Kent.

There she shared a room with her mother – but before long she dreaded hearing the key turn in the bedroom door because she would have to be alone with the sex fiend she called ‘Mum’.

Susannah, says: “I tried to tell people what was happening to me – my nan, my dad, my aunt. But it was a vile truth no one knew how to deal with, so I was ignored or labelled a liar.

One of her earliest memories was her mother locking them both in her grandmother’s room.

Aged just THREE the child was then forced by her mum to take part in depraved acts and when she finally refused a pillow was held over her face until she passed out.

Speaking at her Aurora Health Foundation therapy centre in Kingston Vale, south west London, near her home, she says: “I was so scared of my mother. She was abusive sexually and physically. I remember cowering beneath a tablecloth in a cupboard praying her rage would dissipate.

“I had no one to turn to. In a house buzzing with aunts, cousins and grandparents the only friend I had was a cat – Tibby. As soon as my mother realised how much she meant to me she picked her up and threw her against the wall.”

More than 50 years later Susannah is unable to stem the flow of tears for her pet playmate, who thankfully survived that incident.

She adds: “I was most scared when my mum sat silently. All I could do was imagine what horrors she was dreaming up – I would stare so hard at the wallpaper wishing it would swallow me up and I would die. It was the only way I thought I could be safe.

“My cot had high bars and my mother’s bed blocked the way to the door. The whole house was dirty and no one questioned why my mum had a lock put on our bedroom door and, in later years, why we shared a double bed.

“Our family didn’t talk to each other like normal ones do. It was easy for her to get away with it.”

The dysfunctional family appeared normal from the outside. Maureen was an attractive lady – slim and with blue eyes and auburn hair – who was proud of her appearance and wouldn’t go out without her hair done or make-up on.

Popular at the factory where she worked as a supervisor, she also had a boyfriend.

But her smart dress and friendly demeanour only helped disguise the horrors of her perverted mind.

Susannah says: “I was so desperate for help I told my mother’s sister about the abuse, when I was four years old. She ignored me point blank and from then on I was known as a liar and a storyteller within the family.

“My father rarely visited. He did question why I was so shy but he was like a stranger to me. I didn’t feel I could tell him. In a cry for help I stopped eating – I must have been about four years old. “The doctor came and told me I was a naughty little girl and that was the end of that.

“Going to the police wasn’t an option either as my family were friendly with the local bobby.”

“And as a child you believe you must have done something to deserve all this.

“At birthdays and Christmas I got lots of presents – to make us look like a normal loving family.

“There was the daytime me who loved school and lost herself in books and the nighttime me who lived in fear of the next attack.

“I was a very shy child and would do anything to avoid physical contact – if we won a hockey match all the girls would be hugging so I would rush off to the loos to avoid being touched.”

The abuse finally came to an end when Susannah was 13. Her mum had a breakdown, and with Maureen drugged up and drowsy the abuse faded out.

Finally, aged 16, she finished school and could leave home, moving to Gloucester to train as a nurse and leaving any pictures of her mother behind.

Susannah excelled in her studies but the fragile teen attempted to take her own life with an overdose of painkillers aged just 19.

Luckily she was saved by a flatmate who called an ambulance.

Susannah dropped out of the nurses’ training course leaving herself homeless for a while, but she managed to get a place in a YMCA where she met her first husband, father of her two sons.

However, her abusive past haunted her and finally at 33, after her marriage had broken down, Susannah went to see a therapist.

She says: “It was amazing to talk to a professional who acknowledged what had happened to me.

“When I attempted suicide I had been to see a psychologist and when I revealed I’d been sexually abused by my mum she calmly lifted a plate and offered me a biscuit before quickly changing the subject.

“I went to visit Mum for the first time since leaving home when I was in my thirties. I wanted to confront her.

“She was living in a psychiatric unit and I met her in the corridor. She was in a wheelchair and her legs were badly swollen. She looked pathetic and didn’t recognise me because of the medication.

“I stood over her, as she had done to me many times, and said, ‘I remember what you did to me you bitch. May you burn in hell’.

“I didn’t prosecute because I knew she was going to live out her days in a psychiatric hospital so was no risk.

“I went to see her two or three times over the years and I did make peace with her. Despite all she had done I still loved her.”

Maureen died in 2006 aged 76, and Susannah adds: “To this day I suffer with night terrors, but I still cried when I found out she died alone in a psychiatric hospital.

“Nearly three years had passed and I called the unit to see how she was.

“They told me she died a year-and-a-half beforehand.

“It hit me hard. I felt for her loss – she’d missed out on having a daughter and grandchildren. She was a sad figure in the end.”

Susannah adds: “My dad emigrated to Australia when I was 22 and he died four years ago. I was sad, but my parents had let me down and there was no getting away from that.”

She is now urging the public to become more aware of female abusers and says: “I don’t want a witch hunt but we do have to bring the problem of female paedophiles out in the open.

“Brushing it under the carpet means people get away with it.

“Children need to feel safe and on very rare occasions that doesn’t mean being with their mum.”

  • Comments Off on Ohio Gran, Gloria Murphy, Pleads Guilty To Having Sex With 12-Year-Old Boy

13:54 10/26/2009
October 23rd 2009

Dayton, Ohio — A woman accused of celebrating her 55th birthday by having sex with a 12-year-old boy pleaded guilty to one count of gross sexual imposition of a person under age 13 on Friday, Oct. 23.

Gloria J. Murphy, (pictured left) of 5440 Rawlings Drive, appeared before Montgomery County Common Pleas Judge Mary Katherine Huffman, who set sentencing for Dec. 2.

The charge is a third-degree felony, punishable by up to five years in prison.

Murphy, who uses a walker and an oxygen tube, appeared frail.

“I’m getting shook,” she said in a gravelly voice when she was confused by some of Huffman’s questions.

Murphy will be designated a Tier 2 sex offender. Her other charge, rape of a child under age 13, was dropped under the plea agreement. There is no agreement on sentencing. Assistant county prosecutor Joshua Muennich told Huffman that the victim’s family had approved the plea agreement.

Rape of a child under 13, a first-degree felony, is punishable by up to 10 years to life in prison.

“This defendant took advantage of a neighborhood child by providing him alcohol and having sex with him,” Montgomery County Prosecutor Mathias H. Heck, Jr. said after Murphy was indicted in February. “

Dayton police arrested Murphy at 8 a.m. on Jan. 30 after the boy notified an adult he had sex with Murphy, according to police.

The encounter happened late Jan. 28 — Murphy’s birthday — and lasted into the early hours the next day, according to Dayton police. Murphy did not force the boy to have sex, but since he is younger than 13, it is considered rape, police said.

  • Comments Off on Illinois Woman, Jonna Boelke, Gets Probation And Escapes Sex Offenders Register For Sending Naked Photos To 15-Year-Old Boys
12:12 10/23/2009

October 23rd 2009

A Glen Carbon, Illionis woman accused of showing nude photos of herself to boys pleaded guilty Thursday to modified charges, avoiding jail time and avoiding having to register as a sex offender.

The outcome of the case angered the mother of one of the victims.

Jonna Boelke, 45, (pictured left) had been charged with two counts of delivery of alcohol to a minor and two counts of sexual exploitation of a child. She was accused of giving alcohol to two 15-year-old boys in August and showing them nude pictures of herself.

As part of a plea bargain, the charges of sexual exploitation were changed to charges of distribution of harmful material. A conviction for sexual exploitation requires a defendant to register as a sex offender, while a conviction for distribution of harmful material does not.

As part of the plea agreement, Boelke was placed on probation for two years and ordered to perform 100 hours of public service.

Boelke declined comment as she left the courthouse. Her attorney, Micah Summers, also declined comment.

A Fairview Heights woman who is the mother of one of the boys wanted Boelke to have to register as a sex offender.

“When it happens again to some other child, there’s not going to be a previous charge to show that she’s done this in the past,” the mother said. “I’m disappointed with the prosecuting attorney’s office. For a year and two months, (State’s Attorney) Bill Mudge has told me that he was going to do the right thing, and now they’re letting her plead down.”

The Fairview Heights woman said the public needs to be warned about Boelke.

“This is not like a traffic ticket or a speeding ticket,” she said. “Children are involved.”

The Fairview Heights woman said her son met Boelke on the Internet, through an online game, World of Warcraft. The mother said Boelke called her one day and gave a story about their children being acquainted, then asked if the boy could stay overnight at Boelke’s home.

The mother said she searched for information about Boelke on the Internet before allowing her son to go to Boelke’s home, but found nothing suspicious. The Fairview Heights woman said her son’s intent was to meet a daughter of Boelke.

The mother said Boelke took the boys about 2 a.m. to a nearby cemetery, where she gave them 14 shots of vodka apiece.

The Fairview Heights woman said she grew suspicious and confronted her son after repeated calls from Boelke, who asked whether the boy could help move furniture or cut her lawn, go fishing with her or to Six Flags.

“My only hope at this point is that she spent the past year thinking about what she’s done, and that she thinks twice before she involves herself with any more young boys,” the mother said.

The plea agreement states that Boelke has undergone counseling, but the type of counseling is not specified. Boelke previously told a reporter she suffers from Lyme disease and fibromyalgia.

Volunteer teacher pleads guilty rather than face second sex-abuse trial

// ]]>A Moab volunteer teacher and softball coach who served three years in prison for allegedly sexually abusing a 14-year-old student before the Utah Supreme Court overturned her convictions accepted a plea deal involving one count of forcible sodomy.

But Arielle M. Beck on Thursday entered a so-called “Alford plea” to the second-degree felony offense, not technically admitting guilt but accepting the plea deal to avoid possible convictions on more serious charges.

In exchange for her plea, prosecutors dismissed three second-degree felony counts of forcible sexual abuse and misdemeanor counts of child abuse, unlawfully supplying alcohol to a minor and allowing an unlicensed person to drive.

Following entry of Beck’s plea, 3rd District Judge Michele Christiansen placed her on probation for five years and ordered her to pay $7,827.03 in restitution to the state Victim’s Reparation Fund.

Beck also must complete sex-offender counseling and contact the state Sex Offender Registry, where her name will appear for 10 years.

Had the plea deal not been completed, Beck, 30, was scheduled for trial next week.

Beck was charged with sexually abusing Moab teenager Kelly Sowell, who hanged herself in her bedroom closet two years after Beck’s first trial, apparently after being harassed because of her involvement with the coach, Sowell’s family has said.

The Utah Supreme Court overturned Beck’s 2003 convictions in August 2007.

The high court said Beck was denied an impartial trial because 7th District Judge Lyle Anderson asked “prosecutorial” questions of Beck while she was on the witness stand.Jurors convicted Beck of three second-degree felony counts of forcible sexual abuse, as well as the misdemeanor counts of stalking and supplying alcohol to a minor. Anderson ordered all terms to run consecutively, and said the misdemeanor convictions must be served separately at the Grand County jail.

After Beck was paroled from prison in October 2006, she served 11 months at the jail before the convictions were overturned.

The case was moved to Salt Lake City, with a Utah Attorney General’s Office prosecutor handling the case for the state. Defense attorney Edward Brass had filed motions requesting Anderson’s recusal from the case, citing bias.

At Beck’s first trial, Kelly Sowell testified the teacher kissed and sexually touched her on several occasions in 2002, including at school football games.

Prosecutors presented written and e-mail correspondence as proof of Beck’s alleged romantic intentions. Beck denied any sexual relationship and claimed she never sent romantic letters.

Sowell’s mother, Sherilyn Sowell, previously told The Tribune her daughter was harassed by classmates, who accused the girl of lying about Beck.

The mother said her daughter received two Internet threats on the day she committed suicide in November 2005. Sowell said her son, 30-year-old Kevin Sowell, committed suicide a few months later, apparently because he felt he had let his sister down.

Sowell had expressed having mixed emotions about seeing the case go to trial for a second time.

“Is taking it back to court going to change anything?” Sowell said, referring to her children’s deaths.

Mother to Stand Trial in Child Abuse Death

Posted: // Oct 28, 2009 04:09 PM

Updated: // Oct 28, 2009 04:09 PM

A young mother accused in her child’s death will stand trial. Tiffany Bohlen has decided not to enter a plea, but instead take her case to a jury.

A judge threw out the initial charge of manslaughter. Now Bohlen will stand trial on the charge of child abuse resulting in death.

She was just 19 when she gave birth to a girl on New Year’s Day 2008. Wednesday she turned her back to the NTV camera as she talked with her lawyer outside court.

Bohlen and her boyfriend Chris Klein shared a home in Grand Island in early 2008.

One February night Klein put seven-week-old Caitlynne Bohlen to bed. He apparently suffocated the child with a blanket, pacifier, and pillow. He was convicted, but a lower court judge tossed Bohlen’s case.

Prosecutors re-filed different charges, now following the delay it will go to trial.

It is scheduled to start November 18, and is expected to last three days.

When it goes to trial, it appears a child abuse expert will not be allowed to testify. The defense asked the judge for that ruling today, because one of the witnesses would not cooperate with their questioning.

Reporter’s Notes by Steve White:
Judge William Wright told Bohlen this was her “last opportunity to enter a plea.” There was no agreement between the prosecution and defense, so it will go to trial.

Bohlen’s attorney made arguments about a witness who has not cooperated. Attempts to serve Dr. Jeff DeMare of Omaha will a subpoena were unsuccessful, and the defense lawyer said the doctor failed to meet for a deposition in the case. The defense asked the judge not to allow the witness to testify at trial.

  • Comments Off on Texas Mother, Courtney Sheward, Charged With Sexually Assaulting 16-Year-Old Boy Scout

02:37 10/24/2009

October 22nd 2009

A female Boy Scout volunteer in Fort Worth, Texas was arrested and charged with sexually assaulting a 16-year-old scout in the troop she helped oversee.

Courtney Sheward, 33, (pictured left)was being held Thursday night on $25,000 bail.

Her teenage son was a member of the same troop as the scout she is accused of having sex with, police said.

“It was through her involvement as a volunteer parent that she met the 16-year-old male victim and a relationship began,” said Fort Worth police Sgt. Chad Mahaffey. “As a result of the relationship, they had nonforcible sex.”

Police said even though the sex wasn’t forced, she was charged with sexual assault because the victim is younger than 17 and is considered a juvenile.

Detectives are investigating allegations involving at least one other boy, police said.

“The arrest of Mrs. Sheward was based upon legal sufficient proof that she had sex with someone under 17 years of age,” Mahaffey said. “However, our investigation is continuing into the possibility and likelihood of other victims.”

An executive with the Scout’s Longhorn Council, which includes Tarrant County, said the group was shocked at the arrest.

“Obviously, we’re deeply outraged by the actions, and we feel for the families,” said Dan Clifton, chief executive officer of the Longhorn Council. “We’re waiting for the outcome of the investigation.”

Sheward was a member of a committee that oversaw the troop and helped plan activities and keep records, Clifton said.

She was removed from the position on Tuesday as soon as the scouts learned of the allegations, he said.
